Hotspots Extended Care Program
As an Assistant Teacher for Celebree Learning Centers I was responsible for leading groups of up to 40 children ages 5-12 through stimulating cognitive, gross motor, and social activities. Each day began with free play and study hall during which I facilitated activities, served snack, or assisted children with classwork. Afterwards I supervised children as they go outside or to the gym for gross motor play while organizing group games. As an assistant teacher I was also responsible for developing and implementing lesson plans that challenged students academically. Click on the pictures to the right to learn more about lesson plans I have implemented.

Through my work at HSECP I gained exposure to typically developing children and can apply my knowledge of child development to practice. I have furthered my competence in creating developmentally appropriate activities to meet the children's needs while being able to provide constant social and emotional support.

The children reviewed the story of Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs to create their own Dwarf for the story.

Students used engineering skills to create bridges using only marshmallows and toothpicks. The students had a contest to see whose bridge could hold the most legos.

Students reviewed the concepts of characteristics to create their own characters for Guess Who. They then used deductive reasoning to guess the character each team chose for the game.

Service Learning
The Towson University Veterans Center
As a service learning student in the Towson University Veterans Center, five other students and I formulated an Action Plan dictating the methodology that would be used in order to better serve the population of student veterans. As part of this plan, we compiled a needs assessment with the primary goal of determining whether people were aware or knowledgeable of the Veterans Center on Campus. Another goal of the survey was to address the needs of the current veteran students and determine whether there was a gap in the services being provided. Our supervisor evaluated our survey and distributed the survey to the Towson University Campus.
After completing the needs assessment, we collaborated with the Towson-affiliated student group TU Serving Our Troops to promote and assist in ‘I Love America Week’. Some of the highlighted events of this week were recruiting Towson Students to create a handprint flag banner, assisting the organization in tabling and promoting awareness of services for Veterans, and aiding in Veteran Suicide Awareness Day.
Leadership
Fundraising and Community Service Chair of the Filipino Cultural Association at Towson (FCAT)
As the Fundraising and Community Service Chair for this Towson Affiliated organization, I was in charge of planning and organizing various fundraising and community service events to meet a semesterly quota. As the chair I was actively involved in fundraising for our organization to attend a cultural conference at Harvard University and in raising money to support reconstruction of the Philippines after Typhoon Haiyan. I was able to coordinate a school supplies drive for children in the Philippines while also engaging in efforts closer to the Baltimore community.
Through this position I have developed skills in event planning and programming, teamwork and collaboration, and establishing fundraising efforts. Additionally, I have furthered my cultural awareness of the Filipino culture through dance, language, and customs.
