A child life specialist could greatly impact the life of a child diagnosed with epilepsy by:

• Advocating for the child to have choices, especially since either diagnosis takes so much control away from them

• Explaining their diagnosis to them in a developly appropriate way the parents may not be comfortable doing

• Helping the patient and family learn ways to disclose this diagnosis to friends anf family and how to deal with the stigma that follows others knowing

• Allowing for oppurtunities of self expression when they are feeling overwhelmed post surgery or procedure.

• Normalizing the hospital environment!
